Through grant funding provided by Target, the Illinois Arts Council, the Springfield Area Arts Council, and the Sangamon County Community Foundation the Prairie Art Alliance partners with local organizations and community schools to provide free art classes and projects to underserved children. The Prairie Art Alliance classes provide a hands-on opportunity for self-expression and to help build self-esteem by creating art in a safe setting with positive adult role models.
