We want to celebrate the wonders of Illinois through photography.
We're looking for the best shots taken anywhere in Illinois between February 2010 and February 2012. The winning photos will be featured in the Illinois Times and displayed throughout April and early May at the Prairie Art Alliance's Gallery II. Contest proceeds benefit the Prairie Art Alliance, a non-profit visual arts organization committed to supporting emerging and established central Illinois artists of all ages.
 Who can enter:
Amateur photographers of any age. Children's category is open to those 12 and under.

Contest Dates:
The contest begins Thursday February 2 and ends at 5pm, Saturday March 3, 2012.
- Digital Contest:
Entries must be submitted as high resolution digital .jpg image(s) and at least 5x7 in size. No prints will be accepted. Photo file should be saved with photographers name and image title (i.e. "Doe, Jane - Photo Title").
- Submit:
Email to galleryii@att.net or deliver on CD via mail or during regular business hours to Prairie Art Alliance's Gallery II, 2 South Old State Capitol Plaza, Springfield, IL 62701. See below for further submittal instructions.
- Form:
A complete entry form must accompany each digital file and include a photo title. Photograph Entry form is available below.
- Entry Fee:
Adults $10 for first, $5 for each additional entry. Children under 12 $5 first, $3 for each additional entry. Maximum of 10 entries per person. Fees can be paid by check (made out to the "Prairie Art Alliance"), credit card, or via Pay Pal link below.
- Publication/show rights:
It is assumed that the entrant is the owner of the copyright of each photograph submitted. Permission to show winning photos in the gallery and publish them in the Illinois Times is assumed.
- Judging:
A team of three professional photographers will serve as judges. The judges will not have access to photographer names until winners have been selected. All decisions of the judges are final.
- Awards and Prizes:
First, second and third place winners in each category, amateur and children, will receive awards and/ or gift certificates for merchandise, classes or special events at the Prairie Art Alliance. Best of Show prizes are listed below.
- Showcasing winners:
All entries will be included in a digital show at the gallery opening; winning photos and a select number of judge's favorites will be on display throughout the month of April. All entrants (and the public) are invited to attend the winner's exhibit on Thursday, March 29, 5-7pm, at Gallery II, 2 South Old State Capitol Plaza. Many winning photos will be published in the March 29 edition of the Illinois Times.

SUBMITTING PHOTOGRAPHS: There are two ways to submit photographs. Please do not drop off prints.
- Contestants may email their digital photos as .jpg (up to 5 MB, at least 5x7 in size, 300dpi) to galleryii@att.net. Completed Photograph Entry Forms and Model Release Forms may be scanned and emailed to the same email address. Entry fees can be accepted via Pay Pal below. Entries must be received by midnight March 3, 2012.

Contestants may submit photographs digitally via CD by dropping off or mailing submissions to the Prairie Art Alliance Gallery II location: 2 South Old State Capitol Avenue, Springfield, IL 62701. Please do not mail or drop off prints. Entry fees can be accepted via check, cash, or credit (Mastercard, Visa, Discover) or via Pay Pal below . Entries must be received by close of business, 5pm March 3, 2012.
